The One Thing that changes everything

by | May 31, 2018

In Soul-based Coaching, we work from the knowing that it is not up to us to change, heal or fix anything for our clients.

It sounds good ~ especially the way it honours our clients’ sovereignty and autonomy. The way we trust their ableness, their power. The way we acknowledge their uniqueness.

But what does it actually mean? What does it ask from us, as coaches?

I’ll be honest. When people are starting out in our programs, it can be quite frustrating. Because of course, they want results, they want to know how to get there, and they want to get there fast.

(And to put your mind at ease: Yes, we do want results in SBC, we just know these results come from a very different place than where people usually look for them.)

In the beginning, our students are attached to outcome. They have no knowing, feeling or understanding yet of how to help clients make their own changes, based in their soul-based knowing.

That alternative is rooted in, yes, Holding Space.

And we teach them to skilfully build a riverbed for the flow of their client’s process. They learn to build that in the moment, responding to what is happening in a way that keeps that healing and transformative flow happen. When their client’s potential unfolds into reality like a big sumptuous peony rose that starts to blossom into full bloom.

And with time and experience, something profound shifts.

Something, that makes all the difference:

They learn to trust.

They learn to trust the process, the tools, their skills.

But something else happens too.

They also learn to trust Shakti intelligence – life’s intelligence itself.

And this is a big one.

Because when they find themselves completely trusting life’s intelligence in their clients, they are rooting themselves in Source.

Which brings a very different experience of being a coach.
Of life, actually.

It goes way beyond these words to describe it, but it brings a groundedness and trust, and also centeredness and deep calm. That we then automatically offer our clients.

And then, it’s so obvious that the ‘how this change will happen’ is not up to us.

When we honour the process, and bring our presence, our questions, our skills to serve it, the changes will happen in the client’s own unique way.

And so, our students gradually learn to be okay with not-knowing how the changes will happen as a coach. Because they completely trust this unfolding. They learn to trust that their clients desired changes will happen.

And they can release the need to ‘work hard’, or to ‘find the ways’ for their clients.

Can you feel the spaciousness that it brings? And trust me, that spaciousness is very much experienced by our clients too – which in turn accelerates their process big time.

Learning to trust completely transforms your client work.

And there is a bonus to all this 🙂

Because it ripples out into your own life.

Where over time, you learn to TRUST that your deepest longing can also come to take form.

When you have learned to invite things to happen, to entice them, to lean into them, without trying to make them happen.

And yes, this changes everything.

It transforms you.

~

And if you would like to start now in cultivating this trust, start looking for where you might be able to let go of outcome just a bit. By all means, have intentions and feel into them. But then start allowing the ‘how’ and the ‘what exactly’ to come later.

And for your clients, or the people that you want to serve: hold more space or hold space more and longer. Offer them your curiosity about what will happen in them, for them. Start leaning into that trust just a little bit more.

I had to remove a tree stump right next to the house that I had cut down already but it was not cut down deep enough. It was still making the new sprouts and made the roots stronger and stronger. I tried a few tools that I have and found that the small axe was working best but it would take some hours to cut it down. The father of the 6-year old boy next door came by to pick up his son and said, stop, I will help you. I will bring a saw on Sunday night that works really well. It will take me 2 minutes. I said, ok. He came with the saw on Sunday evening. It took 2 minutes to cut the stump much further down. That was easy. The problem solved itself. Now, I have to wait and see if it is finally cut down deep enough so that it won’t sprout again. Then I can put earth over it and the roots will decay with time. It was a very nice tree but in the wrong place. There is a lot of meaning here what it all means to me but I won’t go into it. That’s too long. Whoever reads it can find meaning for themselves. My point is that the solution came fast, quick and easy. I had never asked for help. It just showed up. It ended my struggle and allowed somebody else to be of service and to help. I’ve been doing soul based coaching since March. I had a bunch of solutions rise up for all of the sudden that have been stuck for a long time and where things solved itself incredibly fast. I want more of those. They are the best. I do 1 to 3 soul based coaching sessions for myself every day now. I am finding this amazingly helpful and fast in its working to change one’s views on something. Then comes the calming and relaxation time and the new views get established. I am feeling a gradual balancing withing myself that is getting stronger. I see that in this way, we create a new inner state of being that will bring new results.

Love that you are here! It’s a pleasure to share what I’ve learned in 25 yrs of coaching and teaching coaches since 2006. At the Academy for Soul-based Coaching, the team and me have reached 1000s of coaches, therapists and healers, helping them have phenomenal, embodied results.

On a personal note, I’m a bi-sexual, perimenopausal (read sleep-deprived) self-anointed Priestess who craves the spiritual as much as I do the practical, connecting seeming opposites in true Gemini style – and that is about all I know about astrology.
