Healthy Boundaries – that hits home for a lot of people in our community.
And I get it.
You are very likely an empath, or a highly sensitive person, and you have a strong desire to help people heal and grow.
So you WANT things for the people around you, dear ones and clients.
You see what is possible for them in a way that they often can’t see themselves yet.
And it often hurts to witness that.
Because it’s so easy for you to feel the pain or discomfort they are feeling. Often literally feeling it in your own body.
Did you know that just because you FEEL something, it doesn’t mean it’s YOURS?
You’d be surprised by how many highly aware women actually haven’t realised this to its full extent.
This is where the great game of entangling starts.
The first step in maintaining healthy boundaries:
Get crystal clear about what is yours and what is theirs.
Want to know how to do that? Let’s have a go.
Take a situation that is taking up too much energy in your life right now, professional or personal (a great indicator).
And start to look more closely at it:
- What is driving you in this situation?
- What is being triggered in you?
- And is it yours: is it your responsibility? How do you know?
(Hint: just because you think it is, does not necessarily make it so.) - Do you have full permission from yourself to extract yourself out of this situation if that is what serves YOU best?
- How much do you feel you should GIVE, in order to do the ‘RIGHT THING’ in this situation?
- Are you serving YOUR NEEDS in equal measure?
Asking these questions can offer a lot of clarity, and help you release the unhelpful attachment to this situation. So that you can start restoring your healthy boundaries.
But sometimes it’s too close to see it for yourself.
You are TOO triggered, or it’s simply too FAMILIAR, a pattern you have lived with all your life.
It touches on BELIEFS about what makes you a good person, a valuable coach, a trusted friend or a good mother. Then it’s very hard to step away and manage your boundaries in a different way by yourself.
If this is the case, don’t muddle around. Ask for help.
This topic is simply too important.
Because it keeps affecting your energy levels, your effectiveness, but most of all, it drains your JOY!
